Discussed in support meeting:

Richard: we have to decide before we start building stuff on top if we set the GCC-specific search dirs for host-injections. (see Allow for compiler+accelerator specific MPI overrides software-layer-scripts#231 ). Richard will post in that ticket what he did to test CUDA, @casparvl will then have a look if he can do the check for ROCm.
It's probably wise to hold off on deploying this to prevent accidentally building on top already

Just as an additional note:

This PR is blocked by Allow for compiler+accelerator specific MPI overrides software-layer-scripts#231 , which in turn is blocked by Add gpu tag for ROCm-LLVM and refactor method software-layer-scripts#228 . I've reviewed that one and made some suggestions in order to give it a push. Shouldn't be too complex.
