What happened?

After Magic Context updated to v0.22.3 today (from v0.22.0), session titles are no longer generated in OpenCode TUI mode. The title generation LLM call (small=true) is not being invoked.

Based on AI analysis, the culprit seems to be commit f3f43cf. The over-broad magic-context-* prefix filter blocks title generation (small=true agent=title), since the title agent itself is an internal child session. The transform skip should either exclude the title agent or only skip heuristics, not the LLM call.

Thanks for the report and the detailed analysis.

We weren't able to reproduce this — title generation works here on OpenCode 1.16.0 with Magic Context 0.22.3 — and after tracing it through the source we don't think Magic Context can be the cause of titles failing to generate:

• OpenCode builds the title call's message history from filterCompactedEffect, which runs before the experimental.chat.messages.transform hook fires. So Magic Context's history injection never reaches the title call's input.
• The magic-context-* prefix filter only flags Magic Context's own hidden child sessions (historian/dreamer/sidekick/memory-migration) so they skip the pipeline. It never matches a normal/root session, and it only skips prompt injection — it can't stop OpenCode from making the title LLM call.

So neither the transform skip nor the injection skip can prevent the title request from firing.

If you're still seeing it, the one path where our behavior could differ is a custom title agent, a custom small_model, or a customized title prompt — in that case our internal-agent detection wouldn't recognize the prompt and we'd inject the guidance block (extra tokens, but still not a blocked call). If that's not it, a report from a session where the title didn't generate would help us dig further:

I realized that title generation still works in "projects", so meaning Git Repos. But does not work if I, e.g. start OpenCode in my home dir. As it works if I disable magic context, I assume it must be related.

Will provide further analysis next week.

I definitely can reproduce it:

1. Create a new directory (no git)
2. Run opencode → title: "New session - " ❌
3. With plugin commented out → title: "Quick test" ✅
4. With git init in same dir → title: "Quick test" ✅

When Magic Context is disabled, there is no issue. So it must be related to this plugin.

According to AI analysis, the bug is not in the message transform exemption (that's a pass-through no-op), but rather a side-channel issue: the plugin posts noReply/ignored:true marker messages into fresh sessions that pre-empt OpenCode's title generation. This happens specifically in non-git directories on the first session launch. The plugin's project-scoping logic treats each new non-git directory as a fresh project, causing these marker messages to interfere with title generation before the LLM call is invoked.
